XYZ SENIOR CENTER
The XYZ (Extra Years of Zest) Senior Center was established in 1970 to provide needed services for the city's elders. It is located on the corner of 1st and Division. All XYZ services are free of charge for elders.
LUNCH & HOME DELIVERY
Hot meals are available to seniors at the XYZ Center Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Meals can also be delivered for home-restricted elders. If you need assistance to sign up for home delivery, please call 443-5238. Check Nome Community Center Facebook or Twitter pages for menu updates. There is a donation price of $8 for non-elders to join our community elders for lunch.

The XYZ provides transportation to and from the XYZ, community functions, shopping centers, and recreational activities. Some of these activities are regularly scheduled. Previous recreational activities include sight seeing in the country, berry picking and green leaf gathering. SHOWER, SAUNA AND LAUNDRY SERVICES
For individuals 55 years and older the XYZ Center opens its doors to address some basic needs for elders without plumbing or laundry services. Please come visit us if you are and elder in need of:
-Washer service ($2/load)
-Dryer service ($2/load)

XYZ DAY SERVICES
Located on the second floor of the XYZ Senior Center, elders are able find a homey atmosphere to spend their time. MSS provide the opportunity to partake in crafts, exercise, or outings with friends. Lunch is provided for individuals participating in the program. To see if you qualify for this program please call to set up an appointment: 443-5238.
As a part of Munaqsri Senior Services, Breakfast club is available for participating individuals Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays upstairs of the XYZ Center. Breakfast is served at 9am. If you are interested in joining breakfast club, please call the XYZ Center at 443-5238.
SENIOR SUPPORT SERVICES FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING
XYZ Senior Services Care Coordination provides assistance to access a variety of services throughout the Bering Strait Region.
Medicaid services assist Alaskans with physical disabilities when they require additional health services in the home. Eligibility for this service is determined by the State of Alaska, and Medicaid Services will work with individuals to establish eligibility.
Services are personalized for each individual according to his/her needs. These services may include medical equipment, daytime care giving, transportation/escort service, home delivered meals, congregate meals, Lifeline (Personal Emergency Response System) and environmental modifications in the home. These services are designed to allow the individual to remain in their own home and maintain optimum care for their health needs. Arctic Access is an organization that provides services and resources for elders and individuals with disabilities to remain in their own village. Services that can be accessed include peer counseling, Personal Care Attendant training, the Consumer Service Fund that allows for the purchase of adaptive equipment, ramps, or Personal Care Attendant services. The organization also aims to generate public awareness about the needs of this population, the opportunities to make the local community adaptable for these individuals, and the available programs to assist them in the community.

ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE RESOURCE AGENCY
Some elders do not require medical care, but they do need a helping hand. This program provides direct non-medical care for clients. Services include companionship, social and recreational activities, monitoring safety needs, housekeeping, preparation of light meals, assistance in feeding and toileting routine, basic hygiene care, medication schedule reminders, and other duties necessary for the health and wellbeing of client as assigned.

DONATE TO XYZ
The XYZ Center always appreciates donations to help support our community's Elders. Food donations are vital to the existence of the meal programs.
Donations ranging from preserved items like canned milk, jams, flour and sugar to fresh or frozen meat such as moose, caribou, and muskox are needed and appreciated. Canned and preserved goods can be dropped off at XYZ anytime during open hours, 9am-4pm, but please call ahead if donating frozen or fresh meat, 443-5238.
